Porter Ranch, CA — Retired Deputy Sheriff Patrick Lee Gipson emerges closer to his opponent than those on the outside expected in the March Primary for Assembly District 40. Gipson secured over 49.8% of the vote against Democratic incumbent Pilar Schiavo, who received 50%, despite getting outspent 17 to 1 in a 14% Democratic voter registration advantage seat. Gipson’s impressive performance propels him forward with momentum into the November election.
“It is a tremendous honor that Republicans, Independents, and Democrats entrusted me with their vote, signaling their collective desire for change in California,” remarked Patrick Lee Gipson. “Incumbent ‘business-as usual’ politicians, like my opponent, are steering our communities in the wrong direction. She marched to defund the police and supports George Gascon; I spent more than two decades as a Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Deputy and think George Gascon’s policies have created victims and made LA less safe. I’m going to remain laser focused on our future, and a better approach that will make the San Fernando and Santa Clarita Valleys safer for everyone.”
Gipson expressed heartfelt gratitude to his family, friends, and supporters whose unwavering dedication helped canvass neighborhoods, make phone calls, and inform voters about the crucial issues at stake. Their tireless efforts were instrumental in securing success in the primary election.
A multitude of local elected officials, leaders, and organizations have rallied behind Patrick Lee Gipson’s bid for State Assembly, including the Peace Officers Research Association of California, the Association for Los Angeles Deputy Sheriffs, former Assemblywoman Suzette Valladares, Assemblyman Tom Lackey, the California Coalition of School Safety Professionals, former Los Angeles County Supervisor Michael Antonovich, Los Angeles City Councilmembers John Lee and Dennis Zine, and City of Santa Clarita Mayor Jason Gibbs.
